Building a commercial case for the sustainable development of Irish seaweed through education, innovation, cultivation, product development, job creation, networking, marketing and digital media.
We are building a commercial case for the sustainable development of Irish seaweed through education, innovation, cultivation, product development, job creation, networking, marketing and digital media.
We are increasing sales and promoting the use of Irish seaweed based products. We are driving the demand for high quality Irish seaweed products and preparing consumers for an increased use of seaweed now and into the future. We are encouraging new product development and increasing the scope of our Business to Business networking. We are developing tools and techniques to secure continuity of supply of this high value raw material.
The aim of this project is to stimulate demand for the products being developed by local Irish businesses from high quality Irish seaweed.
We have created a marketing platform which allows Irish producers and processors to add value to their products locally and then get those products to a global market. Products range from food supplements and food products for both humans and animals to cosmetics.
We are promoting the reputation of Irish seaweed in the global marketplace and defining Irish seaweed as a high quality brand. The brand image of 'Irish Seaweed' is already globally acknowledged as being high quality due to the clean and clear waters surrounding the pristine coastline.
Driving the market will stimulate product innovation which in turn will lead to the development of jobs and careers in economically challenged regions where employment is scarce and infrastructure is poor.
The value to the customer is ease of purchase. Products from multiple vendors can be found on one site and orders from multiple vendors can be placed through one transaction.
This model supports locally based businesses. The advantage to the supplier is reduced distribution and marketing costs and reduced levels of stock-holding as orders can be produced based on customer demand. Levels of supply may create the need for 'limited edition' artisan products which are not high in volume but can be high in value.
Shelf life and product stability are enhanced due to the immediacy of delivery, allowing vendors to distribute their products from the shore directly to the consumer.
The marketing platform is supported by multimedia, multi-channel articles which help to raise public awareness about the issues around seaweed, provide them with information and lead them back to the site and the opportunity to get products into their lives. The tool will be promoted using Irish TV and the latest optimisation techniques to present the products to a global audience.
